Public Service Announcements

A public service announcement can come in many forms, but the overall intent of the message remains the same; to bring attention to and create awareness of important issues and causes. The Mustard Seed achieved just that with their spot, “Stuck”. They were able to communicate their message to ‘Stop the Cycle of Poverty’ in a very powerful way through video, which required little words to show viewers how the cycle of poverty can be never-ending for those less fortunate unless people can stop and take the time to do something about it. A video PSA like this makes a lasting impression on your audience, and can be a very effective tool when trying to raise awareness of your cause.

Old Spice

This video launched the brand into viral video star status and has since created an entire series devoted to the ‘Man Your Man Could Smell Like’.

Sony Bravia: Paint

Far from the typical and boring product ad, this video took ten days to film and took 60 people five days to clear up but the end result is truly beautiful, and leaves most thinking it’s too good to be true.

Coca Cola: Deliver Happiness

Coca Cola has set out to deliver doses of happiness to unsuspecting communities around the world, and by filming these deliveries; they’ve turned a personal brand experience into one that everyone can enjoy.

Corporate Overviews

Flexpipe Systems produced a video outlining the process in making their product, and how it is used in day to day field operations of their clients. This video can be found on their YouTube page, and offers a great introduction to their organization, as well as offers an inside look at how their operations work, and how their product is different from others in the market. A Corporate Overview video like this can be effective as it allows you to provide your clients and investors a visual demonstration of your business, and all that goes in to producing your product. Instead of a lengthy description in your ‘About Us’ section, show them what you do instead.

SUCCESSFUL VIDEOS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Toyota: Swagger Wagon

This rap-style video aims to eliminate the stigma attached to the minivan and re-package it as a swagger filled machine. The video has just under 10,000,000 hits so viewers must be convinced, the vehicle has major swagger.

Liquid Mountaineering

Hi Tec produced a great viral spot for their water-proof shoes. The documentary style video follows 3 ambitious outdoorsmen as they introduce the sport of Liquid Mountaineering. The video was so convincing Hi Tec had to produce a follow up video confessing that it was actually made up.

Terry Tate Office Linebacker

One of the original viral spots, this video dates all the way back to 2003. Reebok had originally produced these as Superbowl commercials, but it quickly gained in popularity once it hit the internet. The spot even has it’s own IMDb page!
